Thisissand

Pour tiny grains of color into layered landscapes, patterns, and patient accidents.

Thisissand is a digital sand canvas where color falls grain by grain and piles according to simple physical rules.

What is Thisissand?

Thisissand begins as an empty field and a stream of colored grains. Hold the pointer or touch the screen and sand falls, building slopes, filling gaps, and forming fine layers. The limited physics gives each drawing a material quality that ordinary brushes lack. Gradients and carefully placed pours can create deserts, geological bands, or abstract patterns, but even careless marks tend to become satisfying textures.

Why we picked it

The experience is calm without pretending to be meditation. Its pace comes from the material itself, and the small delay between gesture and result encourages patience.

How to get the most from it

Build a low base, switch to a contrasting color, and pour against the slope rather than always from the center. Full-screen mode makes the slow accumulation more immersive.

Good to know

The browser canvas is usable without an account. Saving or community features can vary by platform, and long sessions may be easier on a larger screen.
